How it works

A bidding war with a finish line

Pay-to-rank boards let anyone knock you down at any minute, so you keep paying. Spotlight runs one race per week — win it and the spot is yours, guaranteed, for seven days.

01 · BID

Bid during the week

Add your site and bid from $10. Raise anytime — each raise adds to your total. The live board shows exactly where you stand.

02 · CLOSE

Sunday 20:00 UTC

Bidding closes (late winning bids extend it a little). The top 3 get the big strips; everyone else gets a bidder row underneath.

03 · SHINE

Locked for 7 days, listed forever

Monday to Sunday your site is on the home page and nobody can bump you. After the week it stays on All sites, ranked by total paid.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How does the auction work?

Every week there is one auction for the following week. Bid any whole-dollar amount above the minimum and raise as often as you like — each raise adds to your total. When bidding closes on Sunday, the highest totals win the big spotlight strips for the full Monday–Sunday week (UTC). The live board shows how many strips are up for grabs.

What do I get if I'm not in the top 3?

Your site is listed in the bidders section right under the spotlight for that whole week, ranked by what you paid. When the week ends it moves to the All sites page, where it stays for good.

Are payments refundable?

No. Every bid is charged when you place it and every bid buys a placement — a spotlight strip for the top 3, a bidder row for everyone else, and a permanent place on All sites. That's why there are no refunds. If your payment completes after bidding closes, it counts toward the next open auction.

How does the All sites page work?

Each site is listed once, after its first week on the home page ends, and ranked by the total it has paid across all finished weeks. Bid in more weeks and you climb. Spotlight winners also get a trophy for every week they held a strip.

What is the countries ranking?

Add your country (optional) and your payments count toward it. Countries are ranked by the total their sites have paid.

Can someone outbid me during my week?

No. Once the week starts the spotlight strips are locked — the price you won at is the price you pay, and your position can't be taken until the week is over.

What stops last-second sniping?

Soft close. If a bid lands in a winning position in the final minutes, the close moves back so everyone has a fair chance to respond. The exact window and cap are in the terms.

How are ties broken?

Equal totals go to whoever reached that amount first. To pass someone you need to bid at least $1 more than their total.

Are the clicks real?

We count a click once per visitor per site per day, filter known bots, and never reset counters. Impressions only count when a listing is at least half visible on screen. Your private manage page shows the same numbers we see.

Do the links pass SEO juice?

No — and you shouldn't want them to. Paid links are marked rel="sponsored" as search engines require. Spotlight is for traffic and attention, not backlinks.

What can't be listed?

Adult content, gambling, scams, malware, link shorteners, chat-group invites and anything illegal. Listings that break the content policy are removed, and payments for them are not refunded.
